In 2025, the production of our blond gold, its processing, and equipment manufacturers supported close to 10,000 jobs in Qu\u00e9bec\u2014including direct, indirect and induced effects\u2014and contributed to the economic vitality of the regions.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Maurice Doyon, PhD, and EcoTec Consultants, the study also assessed the spin-offs of these activities in the other provinces. Across Canada, their contribution represented $1.21 billion in GDP and close to $285 million in tax and parafiscal revenues, excluding municipal taxes and revenues from maple bush rentals on public lands.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supporting a developing industry and its leadership<\/strong><br \/>\nBetween 2020 and 2025, Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s maple syrup production grew by 29%, from 175 million to close to 225 million pounds. The number of taps grew by 16% to top 55.6 million. In 2025 alone, the four corners of Qu\u00e9bec saw the establishment of more than 600 new companies and the expansion of close to 1350 existing operations. The province continues to be a leader, representing more than 70% of global maple syrup production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur producers work each day to promote our blond gold here and around the world. I\u2019m proud to be at the head of a dynamic and expanding industry. The report published today illustrates our strong growth. We\u2019re excited at the prospect of working with the new government to ensure that the maple industry gains greater recognition and support so that it can take its rightful place over the next few years,\u201d says Luc Goulet, President of the PPAQ.<\/p>\n<p>The industry\u2019s development also relies on the capacity of companies to process and market the product. Between 2020 and 2025, the volume of processed maple syrup increased by 38%, from 146.6 million to 202.4 million pounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQu\u00e9bec has built a maple industry we can be proud of, and processors are playing a vital role in this success. In 2025, they purchased 88% of the maple syrup produced in Qu\u00e9bec, added value, and marketed it here and around the world, contributing to enhancing the profile of our products in some 70 countries. This capacity to process, innovate, and develop markets is part of our strength. Keeping up this momentum and maintaining Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s global leadership means our companies need to be able to rely on adequate and predictable supply to continue to invest and grow,\u201d says Louis Turenne, President of the MIC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing for sustained development<\/strong><br \/>\nFor the MIC and PPAQ, these results highlight the importance of promoting investment in production, equipment, processing and marketing to maintain Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s global leadership.
