National Maple Day

Proclaimed by the National Assembly in spring 2024, National Maple Day is held once a year, on the third Sunday of October, to celebrate and recognize the maple syrup industry.

History

Launched by the Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Québec (CTAQ) and the Maple Industry Council (MIC) in collaboration with the MNA for Beauce-Sud, Samuel Poulin, this initiative seeks to celebrate, deseasonalize and highlight one of our emblems: maple syrup. It’s also an opportunity to pay tribute to the people who produce and market this pure and authentic product, deeply rooted in our heritage and our customs.

The Act to Proclaim National Maple Day is underpinned by:

  • Québec’s prominent place in the global production of maple syrup;
  • the major attraction of maple syrup and its derivative products;
  • the importance of maple products in Québec’s cultural, social and culinary history;
  • the source of pride in maple products and their related traditions as well as their contribution to shaping Québec’s identity;
  • the contribution of those who promote maple products.

Celebrations and recognitions

The celebrations and recognition around National Maple Day belong to all Quebecers. Whether you’re a city, educational institution, regional county municipality (RCM), local development centre, chamber of commerce, daycare, senior’s residence, organization, private enterprise or association, you’re invited to celebrate this day in your own special way.

Elected officials are also invited to take part in the celebrations by encouraging their citizens as well as the organizations on their territory to hold thematic events, seminars, activities, shows, exhibitions, markets, tastings, contests, etc. It’s up to you to decide how you wish to celebrate and bring National Maple Day to life in your region!

Note that the logo is public and can be used in compliance with the guidelines for its use. You will also find a list of ideas for activities to mark the occasion.

2025 Edition

The second edition of National Maple Day will be held on October 18, 2025.
The goal of the second edition is to continue making this national day known to the general public in collaboration with our partners, the Producteurs et productrices acéricoles du Québec (PPAQ) and Aliments du Québec, while showcasing the work of the member companies of the Maple Industry Council.
